Joanne Figone, MA, OTR/L, SWC
Joanne has been in private practice for over 20 years. She received her BA in Psychology from University of California, Berkeley, and her MA in Occupational Therapy from University of Southern California. Prior to opening her own practice she worked for Oakland Children’s Hospital, Agency for Infant Development, and California Children Services, which have provided her with an extensive background in working with children of various ages, disabilities and conditions.
She has specialty certification (SWC) in assessment and treatment of children with feeding/swallowing issues. She has worked with children with sensory feeding issues, poor oral motor coordination and children transitioning from tube feeding to oral feeding.
She has training in various treatment approaches, including Sensory Integration, Neurodevelopmental Therapy, Myofascial Release, Perceptual Enrichment, SOS feeding, and Handwriting Without Tears.
In addition to the providing therapy, she has lectured and provided workshops to therapists, other professionals, parents, and teachers. She lectured throughout the Western United States for the Handwriting Without Tears company for 12 years and is currently an adjunct instructor in the occupational therapy department at Dominican University of California.
